HERSHEY — After going 1-1 on Thursday, Golden Tide senior wrestler Jacob Carfley was eliminated from the PIAA AA State Wrestling Championships during Friday’s second round of consolations.
Carfley was defeated 3-2 by Brady Struble (33-9), a senior from Mifflinburg. After a scoreless first period Carfley reversed off of the bottom 30 seconds into the period to take a 2-0 lead. A minute later Struble reversed as well, sending the bout into the final period all tied at two each. With 30 seconds remaining in the match, Struble escaped to a 3-2 lead, and the match ended with them both on their feet. Struble was then pinned in the next round by West Branch’s Landon Bainey.
Carfley ends his senior season with a record of 25-9. His Golden Tide career mark of 74-35, with 23 falls.
