CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Area School District and Clearfield Educational Foundation – Future Corp. will jointly pursue a federal jobs grant.
The U.S. Economic Development Administration’s Good Jobs Challenge Grant is one of six programs in the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.
The program makes $500 million available to help train Americans for well-paying jobs by developing and strengthening regional workforce training systems and sectoral partnerships.
These will in turn create and implement industry-driven training programs, designed to connect unemployed, underemployed or under-skilled workers to existing and emerging job openings.
Ultimately, these systems are designed to train workers with the skills to secure quality jobs that provide good-pay, benefits and growth opportunities, such as a union job.
The EDA will utilize a merit review process to assess the quality of applications received for this competitive grant. Good Jobs Challenge grant awards will be announced in summer of 2022.
At Monday night’s regular meeting, Clearfield school board members voted to approve a partnership agreement between the district and CEF – Future Corp.
