CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield man is behind bars for allegedly assaulting a female and a six-month-old baby.
Duane S. Starr, 22, is charged by Clearfield Borough police with three counts of aggravated assault and one count each of strangulation and child endangerment, all felonies.
He’s also charged with two counts each of misdemeanor simple assault and reckless endangerment. He’s currently lodged in Clearfield County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
On Feb. 19, police arrested Starr for allegedly assaulting the female and six-month-old baby. The couple were engaged in a physical altercation, and she tried to remove the child from the situation.
Starr then struck the baby in the head several times as well as caused injuries to the female, police say. Starr was taken into custody and to county jail.
The child was evaluated at Penn Highlands Hospital before transport to UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, according to the report.
Starr is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23 during centralized court.
