CLEARFIELD – A new café option – Bake Shop Bakes – recently opened up shop in Clearfield.
Bake Shop Bakes offers a variety of baked goods like brownies, cookies, cakes, bread, apple dumplings, cinnamon rolls, donuts and cupcakes.
Additionally, it offers breakfast sandwiches and French toast stix, as well as salad, sub and sandwich selections for lunch. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate are also available.
The owner of Bake Shop Bakes Andy Hoover first opened up in Tyrone, then expanded his business last month to add the Clearfield location.
In 2012, Hoover along with his wife, Brittany, took a chance that most others would not with a family of six. Hoover was in the construction business while Brittany was a stay-at-home mom.
One day Brittany, who had previously attended culinary school, went to the grocery store for apples to make pie. After Hoover’s first taste, he thought everyone had to try it, too.
So, the couple shared the pie with some close family and friends. “Everyone enjoyed the pie so much,” and encouraged the Hoover’s to start their bake shop business.
The bake shop in Clearfield offers catering services from weddings to birthday parties, and people can pick from a “fully-customizable” menu of main dishes and desserts.
It also has fundraising options for local groups, organizations, etc. Fundraiser orders will even be presorted by seller and delivered free of charge. There is no minimum to order.
“Our menu is pretty big … and it’s very unique,” Hoover stated. The shop is open 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday at 211 Chester St., Suite 3, Clearfield.
The Clearfield location is next to Clearfield Nutrition and Uncle Buck’s Creations. For more information, please visit its Web site at www.bakeshopbakes.com.
