CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Borough’s Fourth Ward Precinct is still in need of poll workers for the May 17 Primary Election Day, council announced at Thursday night’s committee meeting.
Individuals must be a resident of the borough and a registered voter in the precinct to volunteer.

Also, on Thursday night, Solicitor F. Cortez “Chip” Bell reported to the press that a federal lawsuit has named Clearfield Borough, as well as a current and former member of the borough police.
Bell said the suit named Lawrence Township and a member of its department as well, but due to pending litigation, he couldn’t provide any further details on the matter.
Eagle Scout Warren Diethrick addressed council about his Eagle Scout project that involves the construction of a GaGa Ball court at Upper Witmer Park.
The borough recommended approval of his request and also extended any resources that would benefit his project. Council commended the young man on a very well-thought-out presentation.
Dallas Kephart, who is running for State Rep. Tommy Sankey’s seat in the 73rd District, also addressed council to introduce himself. He said that his top priority, if elected, would be to make himself accessible to the community.
The Clearfield Fire Department would like to thank the community for doing its part by keeping fire hydrants clear during the wintery weather that’s impacted the local area.
Council also encouraged Clearfield residents to give their feedback on the potential removal of the traffic lights at Turnpike Avenue and Nichols Street as well as Third and Cherry streets.
Residents should call the borough office with their suggestions or send them to the borough administration office in writing.
The borough will also receive a grant for 20 trees. Three will be replaced in areas of downtown and the rest will go along the river. The borough would also like to thank Karen Miller for all her help with the project.
Under public safety, the committee recommended denying a handicap sign around 607 E. 11th St., but the matter will be revisited at the next meeting.
It also recommended to contract with Morefield IT services for the police department, as well as to install a FOB security system from AKS Security at the police department and borough administration office.
The committee also recommended closing the streets in the Clearfield Driving Park area on June 4, 2022 for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
Under personnel, the committee recommended advertising for an opening for a part-time secretary for the police station.
