HYDE — The Clearfield Area Junior/Senior High School on Saturday January 22 will be a hotbed for wrestling as 16 teams will battle for the team title at the 13th Annual Bison Duals Tournament.
Pretending that 2021 never happened due to covid-19, Montoursville, the 2020 team champions, will be back to defend their crown. As a matter of fact, 10 out of the 12 previous year’s team champions will be represented.
The host Bison have the most titles with three, winning the first two years of the tourney (2009, 2010), and adding a third title in 2019.
Two more 2022 participants will be looking to tie Clearfield with the most titles as Montoursville also won in 2016 and General McLane won in 2013 and 2015.
Teams with previous crowns that are also wrestling Saturday are Butler (2011), West Branch (2014), and DuBois (2018).
The two previous winners not participating this year are Pleasant Valley (2012) and Central Mountain (2017).
Action will begin at 8:30 am and will run right through to 6:30 pm when the first, third, fifth, and seventh place matches will all take place. All teams are guaranteed five matches on the day.
