CLEARFIELD – Work is nearly complete on the $4-million River’s Landing project in Clearfield Borough.

“It’s about 98 percent complete,” said Clearly Ahead Development Chief Executive Officer Rob Swales in a phone interview with GANT News this week.

The two-story, 11,500-square-foot multi-occupancy facility has space for up to three suites on the first floor, according to previously-published reports.

There will also be outdoor seating areas and the second floor will consist of professional office space, incubation/coworking space and special event and training center capabilities.

Swales anticipates that final inspections and issuance of an occupancy permit will occur within a week. Clearly Ahead will then relocate its offices from the former FCI building to the second floor of River’s Landing by mid-April.

While he was unable to discuss prospective first-floor tenants, he said they’ve been working “diligently” and made “tremendous strides” in finding an “anchor” tenant.

He said they hope to bring in a “family-style” restaurant with indoor and outdoor patio seating options that will also provide catering to the second-floor special event center, which can hold up to 125 people.

“We don’t want to lock in our other two tenants until we have our anchor tenant,” Swales explained. “We anticipate that announcement later this spring.”

There will also be an additional sidewalk to connect the Market Street Bridge to Lower Witmer Park along the river’s edge at Market Square, and in turn to create a “bridge-to-bridge riverwalk loop.”

Swales anticipates the project to be 100 percent complete and for the riverwalk to reopen by early May. He said perimeter fencing will remain in place until they’ve finished the springtime punch list of landscaping work.

“We didn’t really have any major setbacks or hiccups because of COVID-19,” Swales said, noting “we utilized local contractors, vendors, products, etc., for construction of our building.

“Our stone came from Russell Stone Products [in Grampian] and our interior hardwood flooring from [Nydree Flooring] in Quehanna. We’re very pleased to have used mostly locally-manufactured materials.”
