HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania House Majority Leader Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin) and House Appropriations Committee Majority Chairman Stan Saylor (R-York) sent a letter to Gov. Tom Wolf Tuesday asking for a briefing for the House leadership team on Pennsylvania’s plan to deploy the COVID-19 vaccine.
“Pennsylvania is the fifth most populous state in the country and ensuring Pennsylvanians are protected from this deadly virus is important to getting this country back to normal,” Benninghoff said.
“In the early stages of the vaccine deployment, there have been many questions about why some Pennsylvanians have been prioritized over others and why the available COVID-19 vaccine has not gotten to those who need it the most quickly and efficiently.
“Respecting that these vaccines have a limited shelf life, and the considerable effort and public expense exerted in the development of this critical response to COVID-19, we are encouraging the administration to engage with us so we can all ensure an effective and expedient rollout to our citizens.”
Saylor underscored the importance of having the vaccine deployed efficiently to allow Pennsylvanians to safely return to normal.
“Pennsylvania citizens are looking for a clearly defined plan for vaccine distribution and to date we have not seen that,” said Saylor. “The governor needs to ensure our citizens are getting access to the vaccine in an expeditious manner. No other action allows us to return to safety and normalcy.”
