CLEARFIELD – Tuesday night’s meeting for Lawrence Township appears to be its final one at its current building, located behind C. Classic Dodge.
The outside lettering has been removed, notices are being posted on the doors and the supervisors discussed the new building’s construction and opening date.
Supervisor Jeremy Ruffner indicated that all work for the new building is on track from painting to flooring and ceilings. The board approved for Dave’s Drywall to complete the remaining walls, along with Haylee’s to complete the flooring.
Ruffner did indicate that although things are on track for the building to be complete, it will not be officially opened until after the new year.
“We are looking at a move-in date of Jan. 12, which is a Tuesday. That also will be the day this current building will be closed,” Ruffner said.
“However, we are not going to be approving any new permits, zoning and other items until maybe the next day, or two days later. We will have some down time due to moving computers and getting everything hooked up.”
Supervisor Randy Powell discussed some upcoming construction on the new building, such as new flooring in the salt shed, plus doors for the police evidence room and security doors. Wallace Masonry was also approved to install a dividing wall.
Powell has been hands-on with the project, and stated that as of now, the drywall is up and soon they’ll start painting walls. Currently, plans are to have the new floors put down starting Saturday, then this time next week to have the drop ceilings installed.
However, the building is still off-limits to the public. Ruffner and Powell each noted that Tuesday’s meeting is the last one in the current building, and despite the new location still not being 100 percent complete, the meeting room will be available for use at the next township meeting.
The supervisors also approved Karen Potts to fill a position on the planning commission, and the Santa Tour to be held on Saturday, Dec. 19.
Santa will be making a tour around the areas of Plymptonville, Golden Rod and Hillsdale. It was noted Clearfield Borough will be having its Santa Tour the same day.
