CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield man pleaded guilty in five different cases for various firearm and drug offenses Monday during plea and sentencing court.
The cases against Tyler Jordan Knepp, 27, start in September of 2019 and ended in April of 2020.
In the first case, a vehicle Knepp was driving was stopped by Lawrence Township police on Sept. 16, 2019 because he had a warrant for his arrest, according to court documents.
He was found to have a handgun, 20 grams of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and drug packaging materials.
For this case, he pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm without a license and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, both felonies.
Judge Fredric J. Ammerman sentenced him to a total of two to seven years in state prison, according to a court employee.
The second case from Oct. 28, 2019 involved misdemeanor counts of defiant trespass and receiving stolen property. For this he received a concurrent sentence of one to two years in state prison.
The third case stems from an incident on Jan. 9, 2020 after state police found a vehicle stopped in the middle of the road in Decatur Township with Knepp asleep at the wheel.
When he was awakened, he claimed he ran out of gas, according to the criminal complaint.
The troopers had Knepp perform a field sobriety test, which he failed and he was taken for a blood test.
He reportedly tested positive for methamphetamine, buprenorphine and alprazolam.
In addition, police found a pistol under the driver’s seat of vehicle.
In this third case, he pleaded guilty to felony firearms not to be carried without a license, driving under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was sentenced to two to five years in state prison, which will run concurrent with his previous cases.
The fourth case comes from March of 2020 after Knepp was spotted in a vehicle traveling on the Allport Cutoff by a state trooper who was aware he had warrants for his arrest and that his driver’s license was suspended.
When the trooper turned his vehicle around to follow Knepp’s vehicle, Knepp reportedly sped away at a high rate of speed.
The officer chased Knepp until he turned down a dirt road and then fled on foot.
Knepp kept running after the trooper ordered him to stop, until he fell. He was then taken into custody, police said.
Again, he was under the influence of a variety of drugs.
Police also found he was in possession of drugs including Xanax, drug paraphernalia and several cellular phones.
He pleaded guilty to felony fleeing or attempting to elude police, DUI and possession of paraphernalia for this case.
Ammerman sentenced him to two to five years in state prison. This term will run concurrent with the other sentences.
The last case from April 13, 2020, involves another DUI and drug paraphernalia case for which he received another concurrent term of one to five years in state prison.
