DUBOIS – A DuBois man is facing felony assault charges for allegedly biting a man’s finger so hard that he left an open wound.
DuBois City police charged Nicholas Paul Doloroso, 27, with aggravated assault, two counts of simple assault, possession of drug paraphernalia and harassment in connection to an incident at a DuBois Street residence on Nov. 27.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, police were dispatched to the residence for a domestic disturbance.
When they arrived, two women were on the front porch and Doloroso was lying on the floor just inside the doorway.
The victim stated that Doloroso had ripped her clothes from her body while she was trying to leave for work.
Doloroso then crawled outside and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
After a check on Doloroso revealed that he had a warrant from the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Department, he was told to report to the jail on Nov. 30. The delay was necessary due to the jail not accepting anyone due to the COVID-19 virus.
Before he left, Doloroso told the officer he wanted to show him something in the upstairs bedroom pertaining to the doors being removed.
Once inside, the officer reportedly saw a glass smoking pipe with methamphetamine residue and another with burnt marijuana. Doloroso claimed both of these items as his property.
The officer told Doloroso to stay in his room until the victim could leave for work.
After the officer returned to his vehicle, he heard a scream coming from the residence and saw one of the women being pushed out the door.
Doloroso was allegedly screaming at everyone to get out of the house and was then taken into custody.
Both women explained to the officer that immediately after he left, Doloroso came back downstairs and started smashing lights in the kitchen.
Doloroso reportedly grabbed the original victim and shoved her against the kitchen wall and physically removed her cell phone from her.
Next, he went after the second woman, grabbing her and pushing her through the kitchen and down the hall to the front door, according to the criminal complaint.
Another man then attempted to pull Doloroso from the second victim.
This is when, police say, Doloroso bit the man on the thumb “to the degree that it left deep teeth impressions and an open wound on the thumb” before he pushed the second woman out of the home where the officer saw her.
Doloroso is being held in the county jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 15 during centralized court in the DuBois magistrate office.
