The county originally capped second-round small business grants at $5,000 for those under $200,000 annual revenue, and at $10,000 for those with revenue above $200,000.
“Because we reviewed our budget, we realized we had more money to give based on the amount of applications and amount of approvals,” Glass said, “so we doubled it.
“Some got $20,000, some got $10,000. The ones that got $5,000 are those under $50,000 [annual revenue] as in the first round.
“We didn’t want anyone who would have been capped at $5,000 in the first round to get more this time. That would be unfair.
“Small businesses with than less $50,000 [annual revenue] got $5,000, then the next level up was $10,000 and then the top was $20,000. Most here met the cap.”
Glass said at next week’s workshop meeting, the commissioners will announce a small number of remaining grant awards to local municipalities, businesses and non-profits.
