Clearfield Borough Council Thursday night passed a tentative budget and approved advertising it before adoption next month.
The budget is balanced with both receipts and expenditures at $2,374,061. The Liquid Fuels budget receipts are $612,795.07 with expenditures expected to be $319,514.20.
During his report, Police Chief Vincent McGinnis said he spoke with Mayor James Schell who reminds everyone to do their part with battling the recent uptick in COVID-19 cases by wearing masks, keeping their distance from each other, washing their hands and so on.
He noted that there were seven school bus violations in the past month, two of which happened with police officers watching, and one resulted in DUI charges.
McGinnis reminds everyone to pay attention, slow down and to stop for stopped buses.
There has also been a problem with stolen packages recently and the chief suggested that people find alternatives for where packages can be left in order to protect them.
Assistant Chief Nathan Curry also reported that the annual Giving Tree, in partnership with Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging is up and running. Locations to pick up tags include Clearfield Pharmacy, CVS Pharmacy, and South Side Subs in Curwensville.
Curry said that donations can be dropped off at CCAAA until Dec. 10. He also said that donations can be made directly to CCAAA through CBT Bank. More information is available on CCAAA’s Facebook page or CCAAA.net.
The council accepted a donation from Don Shaw to the police department and noted that the funds would be used to purchase back up batteries for the police department’s radio system. McGinnis said they appreciate Shaw’s support and the support of everyone who reaches out to help the department.
