CLEARFIELD – A staff member has tested positive for COVID-19 at the Clearfield Area Junior-Senior High School, according to a community notification issued Thursday on the district’s Web site by Superintendent Terry Struble.
Struble said the district was notified Wednesday evening, adding that the individual has been asymptomatic and was in school Wednesday. “Contact tracing started last evening and was completed this morning.
“All individuals who have been designated as a close contact have been notified. At this time, we will be continuing with our A/B model.” However, Struble did say it’s become challenging to remain with “face-to-face instruction” with local case counts rising.
“We will be carefully monitoring the cases in school and their impacts on our current model of delivery,” he said. “Principal [Heather] Prestash did share with students, in grades 7-12, on Wednesday a review of the overall steps to virtual.”
Struble said teachers are already prepared to make the transition, if it would become necessary, and students should be used to the school’s online learning platform, as well.
“As always, it’s important to monitor your well-being and those around you,” Struble said. “If your child is showing any signs or symptoms, please keep them home and contact the school nurse to review the concerns.
“[The more] everyone does what they can to help prevent the spread, the longer we can keep our children in school. Please continue to do your part to help our community by being aware of the signs and symptoms of COVID 19.”
