CURWENSVILLE – This has been a strange year.
With the spread of COVID-19, and the restrictions and cautions people have taken, many things we are accustomed to every year have been cancelled or postponed.
But some things have continued, albeit with some changes. And one holiday tradition will continue this weekend in Curwensville: Home for the Holidays.
The Curwensville Merchants Association’s annual kick off for the holiday season is going forward, beginning today through Saturday.
Of course, there are changes. No parade, no welcoming Santa and no wine walk.
Fortunately, American’s are resilient, and the people of Curwensville are used to making the best of any situation.
The shops throughout Curwensville have decorated to the nines, and most will have specials going on throughout the weekend, including Aletta’s Farm Market, Snappy’s, The Strawberry Tree, Curwensville Florist, Starr Hill Winery and Gypsy-Soul Farm as well as banks, funeral homes and churches and more.
Curwensville Alliance Church will be showing off electric train sets and villages again this year, with everything spaced out in the fellowship hall for one stop viewing.
On Saturday, the Curwensville Tide Band will be playing Christmas Carols in the downtown area.
Instead of a scavenger hunt this year, participants can pick up or print a word search sheet. At each location, players can find a hidden package, write the word associated with the package beside the store name and each correct answer will enter participants in a drawing for a gift certificate.
