LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP – Two men have been accused in an attempted theft of over $200,000, Lawrence Township police say.
According to the police report, 59-year-old James Schubert of Clearfield and 83-year-old Edward Hicks of Osceola Mills passed a forged check totaling $197,232.74 for the purchase of a Lick Run Road residence on Sept. 17.
They also allegedly offered $15,000 in additional checks that were never produced to purchase the victim’s personal belongings inside the home as well as a vehicle.
Charges have been filed against both men through the district court.
