CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County’s recycling site, located at the county jail, has been temporarily closed for the past few months due to the COVID-19 crisis, which prevented work release inmates from manning the site.
That temporary status has now become permanent, announced Solid Waste Authority Director Jodi Brennan in a press release issued to local news media on Friday.
She said it was recently learned that due to “other non-COVID-19 reasons,” it will no longer be possible to utilize inmates to man the site. Without funds to replace the labor force, the site will permanently close, effective immediately.
While this closure will be an inconvenience, Brennan said the county does offer alternative recycling options for the public. For more details, please call the Solid Waste Authority at 814-765-5149.
