SANDY TOWNSHIP —  Township Manager Shawn Arbaugh notified the Sandy Township Supervisors that township workers have been working on fixing leaks in Sandy Township’s water system.  Seven recently fixed leaks saving Sandy Township up to 60 thousand gallons of water a day.  Two leaks making up 30 and 20 thousand each alone. 

The township voted to start exploring options to revamp the Sandy Township Police Department’s pension investments.  The township is seeking is starting a “Request for Proposal” process to see alternatives for half of the pension funds.  The township splits the pension investments between two groups currently, and the township is looking to potentially replace one of them.

Preliminary work on next year’s budget has started.

Sandy Township and City of DuBois Consolidation

Arbaugh told the Supervisors to expect interview scheduling requests soon.  The consolidation study had finished interviewing Aarbaugh and City of DuBois Manager John “Herm” Suplizio.  The next round of people to interview will be the elected officials and staff in both municipalities.

 The first draft of the consolidation study is still expected to be completed by mid-October.  It will be reviewed by the elected members of both municipalities and the joint consolidation committee as well.  After this review a draft will be presented to the public.

Emergency Disaster Declaration

 FEMA’s reimbursement has been finalized and submitted.  The township is expecting the money to arrive in its account soon.  The township is anticipating to be reimbursed for 75% of the $10 thousand spent on personal protection equipment related to COVID-19.

ATV/UTV Ordinance

Arbaugh  is researching a Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources grant that could help with the execution of the ordinance, if it passes.  The ordinance to allow All Terrain Vehicles and Utility Task Vehicles on public roads is expected to require signage.
