CLEARFIELD – Lawrence Township held a short supervisors’ meeting Tuesday, mostly concerned with items raised by Roadmaster Ron Woodling.
Woodling reported that he has been pricing spreaders to be used specifically for calcium and sand, which the township uses on dirt roads to keep dust down.
He said they have been using a salt spreader, but after using it they have to thoroughly clean out the calcium and sand and he would like to have a spreader dedicated specifically for this purpose.
The amount it would be used would depend on the weather. Woodling said right now they are doing dust control about every two weeks.
He got some prices from BradCo and the one he was considering is an 11 cubic foot spreader for $1,900.
Supervisors Randy Powell and Jeremy Ruffner were present and asked Woodling to get some additional prices from other sellers and come back to them later with prices.
Woodling also reported that the taring and chipping planned for several roads in the township most likely won’t happen until the end of August.
Roads scheduled for the treatment include 104th Cavalry Road, Mann Road, Zion View Road, Evans Road, Lewis Road and Levine Road.
The supervisors also learned under the secretary’s report that the multi-modal grants applied for through the state Department of Transportation for Turnpike Avenue and Industrial Park Road were both denied.
