DUBOIS – COVID-19’s impact on Sandy Township’s budget was discussed at Monday night’s supervisors’ meeting.
Township Manager Shawn Arbaugh reported that there’s been a combination of decreased revenues and expenses. For example, he said, sewer revenues are down by approximately $40,000 and expenses by $65,000.
Additionally, Arbaugh said there’s been a decrease in sewer usage, mostly by township businesses, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In other business, the supervisors:
- amended the Police Collective Bargaining Agreement to include pay scales for planned, but currently pending, promotions of a new corporal position within the department.
- reported the consolidation study is still in the interview phase. It was noted that Arbaugh and City Manager John “Herm” Suplizio are scheduled for interviews Aug. 5. Supervisors Jim Jeffers and Sam Mollica stated they hadn’t been contacted as part of the consolidation interview process, and Arbaugh indicated their interviews would be conducted remotely.
- reported that the Kiwanis Trail sewer project meeting went well, and project plans as well as up-to-date information will be available on the township’s webpage.
- announced Bogle Road will be closed July 26, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Sandy Township Fire Department plans to conduct fire training with participation from six other departments.
- reported ATV/UTV committee meetings remain on hold due to COVID-19.
