DUBOIS – A DuBois man walked into the DuBois City police station Wednesday to confess that he has had a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old boy.
After it was determined the crimes happened in Union Township, state police were contacted.
In his interview with a trooper, Jared Alan Beard, 19, admitted he began experimenting with sexual intercourse with the boy, starting in January of 2014.
He stated that the interaction occurred two times a week, but it slowed down to only once a week over the years, according to the affidavit.
Beard related the most recent incident was two weeks ago and occurred in DuBois. Reportedly, they had sexual intercourse approximately 20 times in 2020.
When the victim was interviewed by investigators, he confirmed the relationship but wasn’t sure when it began saying “it was kind of a blur” but agreed it was years ago, according to the criminal complaint.
The victim reportedly said Beard would contact him wanting sex, and he would “do it just to make him leave.”
Beard is charged with 20 counts each of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with person less than 16 years old, statutory sexual assault (four to eight years older), aggravated indecent assault-person less than 16 years old, all felonies, plus 20 misdemeanor counts of indecent assault person less than 16 years old.
He is being held in the county jail on $100,000 bail with a preliminary hearing scheduled for Friday at centralized court at District Judge Pat Ford’s office.
