WOODLAND – A Boggs Township man’s disappearance is now being classified as “suspicious” by investigators with the state police at Clearfield.

Gerard J. “Gerry” Flango Jr., 48, was reported missing by family members on June 3 after he had neither been seen nor heard from since May 18, according to previous reports.

Trooper Bruce Morris, Troop C community service officer, provided an update on the investigation into Flango’s disappearance Monday afternoon at the Woodland barracks.

Flango is described as standing approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing 220 pounds.  He also has brown hair and blue eyes with tribal sleeve tattoos on both arms.

Morris said Flango was seen twice in a 48-hour period at the Family Dollar Store in Clearfield. He was there first at 6:20 p.m. May 16 and a second time at 7:12 p.m. May 18.

In surveillance footage, Flango was wearing bandannas on his head and around his neck, a dark-colored shirt, a dark-colored vest and blue jeans.

“He’s had no cell phone activity since May 19,” Morris said, noting it’s believed that either the battery was removed from his device or that it more or less went dead.

He said Flango is known to frequent Ocean City, Md., and various parts of Virginia and Ohio, but his motorcycle was found at his residence. Flango is also known to use methamphetamine.

“He was seen doing his daily activities,” Morris said, “then he basically just disappeared. Everything went from normal to not normal. There’s been no activity to indicate his whereabouts.

“He hasn’t called anyone or used a credit/ATM card anywhere. He was doing his normal activities, then there was that definitive end. That’s what makes it so suspicious.”

Investigators are following up on all leads to build a timeline of time, place and location, and witnesses may choose to remain anonymous.

Anyone with information on Flango’s whereabouts is asked to contact Trooper Zachary Moran at 814-857-3800 and to reference incident number: PA2020-784650.
