GRAMPIAN – Members of the Grampian Lions Club recently met to discuss changes to its activities and events due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
All club meetings and activities will abide by the recommendations from both Lions Club International and the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
In April, the club cancelled its Children’s Easter Egg Hunt and its Pancake and Sausage Breakfast. The breakfast will be rescheduled for this fall, if it’s permitted under public health/safety guidelines.
The club also cancelled its annual chicken barbecue that was scheduled for June 25; however, it will still hold the Darrell Spencer Golf Tournament on June 13 at the Eagle’s Ridge Golf Course.
In other business, members agreed to purchase a visual aid for a local youth who has suffered from glaucoma since birth. The club will also sponsor their attendance at a summer camp for the visually-impaired.
Recent donations were made to the Curwensville Little League, Children’s Aid Society, Boy Scouts of America Bucktail Council, a Past 14 J District Governor fire victim and a local resident (eyeglasses).
Club members were also reminded that the summer family picnic meetings will begin at the Thorp Ball Field, beginning Tuesday, June 9 at 6:30 p.m.
Members said even though the club has lost monies from two fundraiser events, they will continue to serve the needs of the local community while abiding by public health/safety guidelines.
