SNOW SHOE – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced on Friday that work on a Route 144 bridge in Centre County is scheduled for June 1.
The bridge spans the south fork of Beech Creek, about two miles east of Snow Shoe. Crews are returning to apply an epoxy resin surface treatment to the new bridge deck surface that was replaced last year.
Work on this project will be done in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan, which will include protocols for social distancing, use of face coverings, personal and job site cleaning protocols, management of entries to the job site and relevant training.
This work will require temporary lane closures during daylight hours. Flaggers in the roadway will enforce an alternating traffic pattern. This work is expected to be complete in two days.
This is one of two structures that were replaced under one contract. The other structure was a box culvert on Route 144 near Gum Stump in Boggs Township. Rylind Construction Company of Lewisberry, Pa., is the contractor for this $2.2 million job.
PennDOT reminds drivers to use caution in and around work zones, obey posted speed limits and always buckle up.
