State police at Clearfield
- State police responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash Friday on the Rockton Mountain Highway, west of Mount Zion Road, in Pine Township. According to state police, a vehicle driven by Lewis W. Huff, 40, of DuBois was traveling east when another vehicle began to pass his during a period of heavy snow. He began to maneuver his vehicle off the right berm until the other vehicle passed by; however, it went into heavy snow on the berm and he lost control. It subsequently struck a traffic sign before coming to a rest along the berm. No injuries were reported, and Huff’s vehicle was towed from the scene.
- State police responded to a reported commercial truck crash Friday on Interstate 80 westbound at mile-marker 121 in Bradford Township. According to state police, Justin J. McKinney, 30, of Florida was traveling in the right-hand lane and due to slippery roadway conditions, he lost control of his truck; it subsequently went off the right berm and struck an embankment. It continued traveling down the embankment before striking a roadway sign and jack-knifing. No injuries were reported and McKinney’s truck was towed from the scene.
- State police responded to a reported commercial vehicle crash Friday on Interstate 80 eastbound at mile-marker 112.4 in Pine Township. According to state police, truck tractors driven by Trevon Hickman, 24, of Missouri and Amir Gafarov, 28, of Huntingdon Valley, Pa. were traveling in the right-hand lane. As Hickman’s truck approached that of Gafarov, Hickman attempted to merge into the left-hand lane to go around Gafarov’s truck. However, Hickman’s truck reportedly struck the left rear of Gafarov’s truck, then Hickman swerved off the southern berm striking the guiderails. Gafarov’s truck continued traveling for about a half-mile before stopping along the berm, as its brakes were disabled due to the crash. Both trucks were towed from the scene.
- State police responded to a reported single-vehicle crash Friday on the Interstate 80 west off-ramp in Pine Township. According to state police, a vehicle driven by Christina I. Mecca, 20, of St. Marys was traveling north on the off-ramp and negotiating a right-hand curve when she lost control. Her vehicle subsequently exited the roadway and overturned after entering a decline off the roadway. No injuries were reported, and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
State police at DuBois
- State police received a report about a theft that occurred at Peoples Auto Body LLC in Reynoldsville, Jefferson County. Sometime Friday or Saturday, a male suspect parked his vehicle along U.S. Route 322 at the entrance to the business’ parking lot, walked down and allegedly removed catalytic converters from two vehicles. State police at Punxsutawney
- State police reported a drug-related DUI occurred Feb. 4 on Spring Street in Houtzdale Borough. According to state police, at 11:23 a.m., troopers arrived at the office of Magisterial District Judge James Glass for a summary traffic hearing in relation to a previous crash. A 55-year-old Glen Campbell man arrived for his scheduled hearing, and during his interaction with troopers, they allegedly observed indicators of drug-related impairment. Troopers administered a series of field sobriety tests, and suspected the man was under the influence; he was subsequently placed under arrest for DUI. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
- State police reported a drug-related DUI occurred Saturday on Route 310 in Winslow Township, Jefferson County. During a traffic stop, a 51-year-old Reynoldsville man allegedly showed signs of drug impairment. Troopers administered a series of field sobriety tests, determined he was under the influence and placed under arrest for DUI. The investigation is currently ongoing at this time.
State police at Rockview
- State police reported an incident of DUI occurred Saturday in the area of East Presqueisle and South Centre streets in Philipsburg Borough, Centre County. According to state police, a 28-year-old Philipsburg man was found passed out inside his vehicle while it was in drive and running. He was allegedly found to be under the influence of alcohol.
- State police responded to a reported DUI crash Saturday on state Route 53 in Morris Township. According to state police, the driver – a 17-year-old male juvenile – lost control of his vehicle on a snow-covered roadway, and struck a utility pole. Two teens suffered minor injuries, state police say. Upon further investigation, it was found the driver was allegedly under the influence of alcohol. Charges are currently pending at this time.
- State police received a report about an incident of harassment that occurred Feb. 1 on Curtis Street in Philipsburg Borough, Centre County. According to state police, a 65-year-old Philipsburg man was struck in the back by an official after a Philipsburg-Osceola basketball game.
Lawrence Township
- Police reported an incident of DUI occurred Sunday in the area of the Clearfield-Curwensville Highway and Park Avenue. During a traffic stop, a 43-year-old Frenchville man was allegedly under the influence of a controlled substance and also driving under suspension. Police administered field sobriety testing, then transported the male to Penn Highlands Clearfield for a legal blood draw.
- Police received a report of a trespassing incident Sunday on Powell Avenue. According to police, it was found a couple had previously engaged in a domestic altercation, and a male pulled the female victim’s hair. He later arrived at the victim’s home, and attempted to force his way inside. He was subsequently arrested for criminal trespass, disorderly conduct, harassment and public drunkenness. Following a search, police say the male was also found in possession of methamphetamine, and he was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance.
- Police received a report about a theft that occurred sometime Thursday or Friday on Lords Road. During the incident, someone allegedly took for sale signs from a woman’s yard. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
- Police received a report from a Curwensville woman about an incident of fraud on Saturday. According to police, she was contacted by someone claiming to be a customer service supervisor for Apple. She said the caller appeared to be legitimate and acquired $2,200 from her. It was noted the investigation was closed due to “exhausted leads.”
- Police received a report about an alleged retail theft Saturday at the Rite Aid store. As part of their investigation, police reviewed surveillance and identified two of the four suspects. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 814-765-1533 or 814-765-1647.
