CURWENSVILLE – “Family Day,” at Irvin Park, has been moved to Groundhog Day.
At Monday’s meeting, art teacher Rebecca Miller thanked the Curwensville Borough Council for use of the park for her “Art in the Park” program.
Miller said Family Day, an event for families and the community to view the students’ art, had been scheduled previously, but the weather had not cooperated. Miller said the event will now be held Feb. 2.
Miller said she has been watching the weather reports and said while she’s hoping for snow, rain may cause the event to be postponed again.
Miller asked the council if they would be willing to turn the electricity on in the smaller pavilions, which will be used to serve warm beverages, as well as to distribute hats to the children.
The council said they will make arrangements to assist with the event, and Miller will let the council know if the event is postponed again.
Also, at the meeting, the council voted to appoint Dave Donahue as President Pro Tem. This item of business had been forgotten at the council’s reorganization meeting Jan. 6.
In other business, the council voted to approve:
- A donation in the amount of $200 to the Curwensville Community Center.
- Resolution 2020-1, setting the contributions for the Police Pension Fund and Resolution 2020-2, naming the borough secretary as chief executive officer of the Police Pension Fund.
- Job descriptions for all borough employees.
