BROCKWAY – The Brockway Rovers extended the Curwensville boys basketball team’s losing streak to 12 games with a tough 49-43 home court win over the Golden Tide on Friday night.
Playing once again without leading scorer Ty Terry, the Golden Tide gave everything that the Rovers could handle in the rematch. Brockway won the first time the two squads played, in Curwensville, 54-39.
The Tide battled back from a 32-18 halftime deficit to cut the Rover margin to 40-34 thanks to winning the third eight minutes of action 16-8.
Trevor Lansberry and Adam Miller each had huge nights for Curwensville. Lansberry scoring a game high 21 points and going 12 of 17 from the free throw line while Miller added 17 tallies.
Brockway had three players in double figures as Alec Freemer had 12 points with Aiden Bullers dropping in 11 and Jon Wood adding 10 points.
In the junior varsity game the winner was Brockway beating the Tide by a score of 30-21. High scorer for Curwensville was Tyler Lee with eight points.
Curwensville slipped to 1-13 on the season and will next play at home versus West Branch on Monday at Patton Hall. The Warriors won the first time the two squads met earlier this season at West Branch 71-29.
