CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Borough Council held a very short meeting Thursday night and one of the topics addressed was what happened to the Christmas tree.
Residents of Clearfield Borough have noticed that the tree, which had been located at the courthouse plaza, was missing.
Borough Operations Manager Leslie Stott explained that the tree would not stay in its base, and they couldn’t determine if it was the tree or the base or some other issue. It was decided to remove the tree for public safety.
“We’re very sorry,” Stott said. “We’ll do better next year,” she promised.
Borough council will also be seeing a change in meeting times in 2020. All committee meetings and regular meetings will be held at 6 p.m., instead of 6:30 p.m. for committee and 7 p.m. for the regular meeting.
Committee meetings will continue to be held the second Thursday of each month and the regular meeting on the third Thursday.
The reorganization meeting will be held Jan. 6 at 7 p.m.
There are openings on borough boards and committees as well as seats on borough council. Those openings will be advertised. Three council members are saying goodbye: Fran Selvage, Wade Cowder and Susan Reed.
Steve Harmic asked to be reappointed and Mason Strouse won the seat he holds in the recent election.
