2019 is quickly coming to an end. Get ready for the new decade and follow one of these New Year’s resolution ideas. A new decade means a new you.
It’s hard to follow through on a New Year’s resolution. A few weeks into the new year, life gets in the way, and all our hopes of accomplishing goals fall by the wayside. Part of the reason people never follow through on New Year’s resolutions is because they set unrealistic expectations for themselves. These three New Year’s resolution ideas, however, are easy to maintain. Do yourself a favor and try to be the best version of yourself in 2020.
Save Money
One of the simplest New Year’s resolutions a person can make is to save more money. Now, this doesn’t mean that you must become a hermit and you can never do anything fun again. In fact, there are so many simple things you can do to save a little extra cash every month. One idea is to cancel all your unused subscriptions. Make a list of all your monthly subscriptions and go through to see which ones you can live without. You won’t believe how much money you’ll save every month. Be mindful of other areas of spending as well. Make coffee at home instead of buying it; cook more dinners at home too. These are simple changes you can make that won’t dramatically affect your life and will be easy to stick to.
Get on a Regular Sleep Schedule
It’s so difficult to go to bed at the same time every night. There are so many distractions that keep us awake. One New Year’s resolution idea is to try and get on a regular sleep schedule. Lay down at the same time every night. Don’t let your pets, kids, or partner keep you awake. Also, unplug from all your devices the minute you lay down. Stay off your phone and turn off the television. Soon, you’ll get into a routine and you’ll be able to fall asleep the minute your head hits the pillow. Getting on a regular sleep schedule is a resolution your body will thank you for in the long run.
Carve Out Some “Me-Time”
Life is crazy for all of us. People get too wrapped in making sure everything gets done, and they forget to make time for themselves. Make sure that changes in 2020. Take some time out of your schedule to devote to yourself. Don’t let anyone stress you out during this time. Read a book, take a nap, or meditate. Do whatever you want—as long as it’s centered around you. This New Year’s resolution will change your life. Once you make time to focus on yourself, you’ll be able to focus more clearly on other things as well.
