CLEARFIELD – The Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 974, Clearfield, dedicated its new Vietnam Memorial Saturday along the Clearfield Riverwalk.
The stone is in memory and in honor of all Vietnam veterans, having served in the U.S. Armed Forces between Aug. 5, 1964 and May 7, 1975.
According to VVA Chapter President Ed Hullihen, the memorial has been almost a year in the making, and everything from the memorial itself to the flags, ground and landscaping were made possible through generous donations.
Hullihen said the new memorial will give veterans a healing place, and also serve as a constant reminder that they have the full support of the VVA organization.
The ceremony featured special music from Heather Olson, who sang the National Anthem and God Bless America and Ed Myter, who sang God Bless the USA.
There was also a prayer, military salute and a wreath was laid at the base of the memorial stone by ladies from the Vietnam Veterans of America Auxiliary.
