CLEARFIELD – A Rockton man has been given a lengthy state prison sentence for touching a three-year-old girl inappropriately.
Richard Alan McCracken, 63, was charged May 9 by state police in DuBois with three felony counts of aggravated indecent assault and three misdemeanor counts of indecent assault for his actions between Feb. 1 and March 21 at a Rockton residence.
McCracken pleaded guilty during sentencing court Tuesday and was sentenced by Judge Paul E. Cherry to a total period of 7.5 to 15 years in state prison with nine years consecutive probation.
He must complete counseling and he was ordered to have no contact with anyone under 18 years old.
Although he is not a sexually-violent predator, he will have to register his address with law enforcement under Megan’s Law.
Prior to sentencing, McCracken stated “Lord, have mercy on my soul” before going on to say “everything I’ve ever had is gone.”
When Cherry asked whose fault that was, McCracken admitted it was his own fault.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, the child’s mother contacted Childline to report her daughter had soreness and redness in her private area that was noted during a doctor’s appointment.
The girl reportedly said she was touched “down there” by McCracken.
The nurse practitioner who examined her signed a document stating that she believed the child had suffered sexual abuse.
When McCracken was interviewed by investigators, he admitted to touching her private area on at least three occasions, police said.
McCracken was also subjected to a polygraph test. After he returned home, his wife told officers he admitted to her he had touched the victim.
