CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Borough will once again be providing curbside leaf collection throughout the borough.
According to a press release issued by borough officials, the west side of the river (Recycling Zone 1) will be collected during the weeks of Oct. 21 and Nov. 4. The east side of the river (Recycling Zone 3) will be collected during the weeks of Oct. 28 and Nov. 11.
Leaves are to be placed between the sidewalk and the curb, and under no circumstances, are leaves to be raked into the street. Leaves must be placed in biodegradable paper bags.
Residents who live along a one-way street should contact the borough administrative office.
Residents are reminded that leaf collection with the leafvac was designed “for the right of way, and not entire yards.” Also, officials say the curbside cleanup is not to be used by contractors.
According to the release, absolutely no dumping will be permitted at the borough’s garage on Power Avenue. However, residents can utilize the compost site on 21st Street, and compost is available for local residents.
The borough also offers residential curbside recycling for aluminum cans, bimetallic cans and most clear, green and brown glass. Pick-up is scheduled for the first and third Tuesday of the month for borough residents.
The borough’s commercial establishments are independently required to recycle items set forth by the recycling ordinance. A copy of this ordinance may be obtained at the Clearfield Borough Administration office.
Officials also reminded that there will be no Christmas tree pickup.
