CLEARFIELD – An explosion and fire that destroyed a building in the 300 block of East Market Street in Clearfield has taken one life.
Both District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. and Clearfield County Coroner Kim Shaffer Snyder have confirmed that human remains were found in the building. Shaffer Snyder said an autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow morning.
Details are limited at this time regarding the cause of the fire, but early reports indicated that everyone living in the apartments there had gotten out.
At least six fire companies responded to the alarm shortly before 10 a.m. this morning, according to the Clearfield Volunteer Fire Department Facebook page. The building appears to be a total loss.
