CLEARFIELD – A 30-year-old Clearfield man whose name Clearfield Borough police declined to release was arrested after a stabbing incident Monday.
Clearfield Borough and Lawrence Township police responded to the reported stabbing at approximately 12:57 p.m. in the area of Nichols and Weaver streets.
A witness told Clearfield County Dispatch that a male stabbed another male with a knife, then fled on foot toward Turnpike Avenue. As he fled, the suspect reportedly threw the knife.
Police say the male victim was transported by ambulance to Penn Highlands Clearfield Hospital, as officers actively searched the area for the suspect.
During the search, officers located the knife, which was used in the stabbing, in the backyard of a residence on Nichols Street.
A short time later, borough officers were contacted by Clearfield County Control, which related the male suspect had called in and stated he was seated in front of a residence on Turnpike Avenue.
Upon arrival, contact was made with the suspect, and he was taken into custody without further incident. He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Pat Ford and lodged in county jail.
The male is facing charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and related offenses and is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing Sept. 11. Bail has been set at $25,000.
