LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP – A wanted Hyde male who police say was found hiding in an attic is now facing new charges for resisting arrest.
On Thursday information was received about a wanted male at an address in the 1600 block of Washington Avenue, according to a news release issued by Lawrence Township police.
Upon arrival on-scene, consent was obtained from the homeowner to search for the male, now identified as 29-year-old Ernest Ricketts of Hyde.
Police say Ricketts was wanted on a bench warrant through the county’s Sheriff’s Office for his failure to appear in a terroristic threats case.
Ricketts was reportedly located hiding in an attic under a pile of carpet. When police tried to place him under arrest, he refused commands, was subsequently tased and charged at officers.
Eventually, Ricketts was taken into custody, transported to Penn Highlands Hospital for an evaluation and lodged in county jail. He’s facing new charges, including resisting arrest, simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct.
