State police at Clearfield
- State police received a report about an incident of criminal mischief that occurred Monday on the Morrisdale-Allport Highway in Morris Township. During the incident, a 30-year-old Osceola Mills man allegedly inscribed obscene language on the driver’s side door of a Morrisdale woman’s vehicle. Charges are currently pending through the district court.
Lawrence Township
- Police received a report about a “missing” vehicle Thursday on Arrowhead Way in Lawrence Township. According to police, a 49-year-old Clearfield man had borrowed a 2006 F250 Super Duty from the victim in February. The man then ceased contact and failed to return the pick-up truck, and the victim has since learned that the man possibly sold it without a title transfer. The truck’s described as being lifted with a diesel engine; being two-tone in color (green over tan) with a replaced white or silver tailgate; having a sliding rear window with multiple stickers, a sunroof and leather interior; and having yellow marker lights above its windshield. Anyone with information is asked to contact township police.
- Police conducted a traffic stop Thursday that resulted in a drug-related DUI on the Clearfield-Shawville Highway in Lawrence Township. When contact was made with the driver, a 31-year-old Curwensville man, police detected an odor of marijuana. A subsequent search allegedly turned up a small amount of the drug and paraphernalia. Because police suspected the man was under the influence, he was taken to the Penn Highlands Clearfield Hospital for a legal blood draw. Charges are currently pending at this time.
DuBois City
- Police received a report about an incident of criminal mischief Monday at Palumbo’s Meat Market. During the incident, someone allegedly moved a bronze-colored pig statue that was in front of the store. Police say it was dragged down the sidewalk toward the loading docks, scuffed up and the cigar was broken from the pig’s mouth. The investigation continues.
- Police were requested to contact a male concerning his mother on Monday. According to the report, he said he kicked her out of his residence for drug use. He also said he didn’t want her to steal his belongings while he was not at home. Contact was made with the female who stated she’d also been kicked out of another housing complex, and she didn’t have any place to go. The male agreed to let her stay until he went to work. Police noted they had several dealings with the female throughout the day.
- Police received a report about a domestic dispute Monday at O’Bryon Eye Associates. During the incident, a female said her son was mad at her, and he threw a full water bottle at her. She said it struck her in the face, causing a small cut, which bled. The couple, according to police, was involved in a previous incident. The male left the scene but came back with the female’s belongings, which he threw on the sidewalk. Police transported the female to the West Washington Avenue area, where she said she had a friend to take her in since she was homeless. However, she was unable to locate her friend’s home, taken to the police station and waited there in the lobby for her friend to pick her up.
- Police received a report about a suspicious female trying to exchange pills for marijuana Monday at Sheetz, located on North Brady Street. When contact was made, the female denied she’d offered anything to anyone, and stated she was just waiting for her son to pick her up. Police warned her if there were reports of further problems, she’d be asked to leave the store.
- Police were called back to Sheetz, located on North Brady Street, for another incident on Monday. A customer reported the same female (from previous incident) was involved in an argument with three juveniles outside. According to police, she told them to “shut up” because she was trying to make phone calls, and they told her to go make her calls somewhere else. A store employee approached the female and asked her to leave after the second incident. Police also made the same request of the female, and initially she tried to argue with them. She eventually gathered her belongings and left.
- On Monday police were called to the DuBois Manor Motel, located on Liberty Boulevard, because the female (from the previous incidents) was being thrown off the property. She’d been transported to the motel by her son with all her belongings; however, she didn’t have the funds to rent a room and her son wouldn’t pay for the difference. She reportedly felt that officers should speak to the owners and convince them to allow her to rent a room for $10. The owners, however, told police the female had been cursing at them, and they didn’t want her there regardless. Police attempted to contact the female’s parents, but there wasn’t an answer. At this point, the female related she was in “extreme pain” and wanted to seek medical treatment. Police provided a courtesy transport to the Penn Highlands Hospital, DuBois; the female was dropped off at the emergency room; and her belongings were left with security.
- Police received a report of “about 16 shots fired” Monday in the area of Spring Avenue and South State Street. As part of the investigation, officers walked the neighborhood, interviewed property owners and located the source of the disturbance behind a Locust Street residence. Police say there was a birthday party with a fire, and some fireworks were set off, as well. They were requested to cease the fireworks, then police cleared the scene.
