State police at Clearfield
- State police received a report about the alleged theft of a utility trailer that occurred sometime between Saturday and Tuesday along Route 53 near the Nittany Minit Mart in Decatur Township. According to state police, the trailer is about 15 feet in length and black in color with a wooden plank deck. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at 814-857-3800.
- State police received a report about an attempted retail theft Wednesday at the Bigler Minit Mart in Bradford Township. During the incident, a 17-year-old Clearfield boy allegedly attempted to steal a cigarette lighter. Upon arrival, he was taken into custody and to the Clearfield barracks; he was then released to his mother. State police noted that the store chose not to file charges.
Lawrence Township
- Police reported on a traffic stop that resulted in a warrant service and drug violation Thursday in the area of Lawhead Street and Washington Avenue. According to police, contact was made with the vehicle’s occupants and a male gave a false name and date of birth. He was ultimately identified as 38-year-old Shawn Moriarity of Clearfield and it was discovered he had an active warrant through the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office. When he was taken into custody and a search was done, Moriarity was allegedly found in possession of methamphetamine and a small amount of marijuana. He was housed in county jail on the warrant, and is also facing drug-related charges for this incident.
