CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield woman has been accused of having a large amount of drugs when she was picked up on a state parole warrant.
Alisha Rae Hayward, 33, has been charged by Trooper Nathan Owens of the Holidaysburg-based state police with two felony counts of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver.
She’s also been charged with misdemeanor intentional possession of a controlled substance (four counts), marijuana-small amount for personal use and use/possession of drug paraphernalia.
Hayward waived her right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday during centralized court at the Clearfield County Jail.
The charges stem from an incident the evening of May 14 in the area of Bigler Avenue and North Third Street in Clearfield Borough, according to the affidavit of probable cause filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Mike Morris.
A trooper saw a couple walking along the roadway; he knew the female as Hayward, who was an absconder from state parole. Because there was an active warrant for her, he pulled into a parking area.
He proceeded to exit his patrol unit and walk toward Hayward; when he stated “Alisha,” she turned and answered “yes.” Then, he confirmed that her last name was Hayward. The trooper asked her to come with him to the patrol vehicle.
When he advised of the parole warrant against her, Hayward indicated that she was aware. He subsequently took her into custody; at the time, she had a purse and backpack on her.
During her transport to the Clearfield-based state police barracks, Hayward told the trooper she had “stuff” in her bag. He asked what she meant by that and she reportedly admitted she had “a lot of drugs.”
The trooper contacted the state parole office concerning the active warrant. He advised Hayward of her Miranda Warnings and she agreed to an interview with him.
A search of her belongings allegedly yielded about 3.5 ounces of methamphetamine, 140 stamp bags of heroin, one ounce of marijuana and an assortment of 64 pills.
