A new column titled, “Wonders of the Wilds,” will take GANT News readers on a weekend road trip to one of nature’s gems in the PA Wilds region.
A resident nature enthusiast from Penfield, Bennetts Valley and Clearfield County, Scott A. Yeager will bring places to life with the vivid portraits he paints with his words.
“Wonders of the Wilds” will be featured on GANT on Saturdays, beginning May 18.
As a child, Scott traveled across the United States with his family, living in diverse places from southern California to southern New Jersey.
He’s a graduate of Chatham High School in Chatham, Va. Scott developed a passion for nature, folklore, mythology and philosophy at a young age.
Storytelling was and still is a major part of his family life. Through hours spent listening to the stories handed down to him from his elders, Scott developed a unique writing style and insights into a wide variety of topics.
He earned his undergraduate degree at the Pennsylvania State University, graduating Phi Beta Kappa. Later, Scott earned a Master’s degree from Duquesne University.
However, if you ask Scott, he will say that his greatest education came from sitting fireside listening to others and from poker games at his grandparents’ house.
He makes the PA Wilds his home because, to him, there is no finer place to engage with nature in its many forms.
The PA Wilds are as close to Scott’s “heart and mind as the rivers that caress our mountains.” For him, this region is the ideal place to cultivate one’s best self.
