CURWENSVILLE – The Animal Welfare Council/Allegheny Spay & Neuter Clinic will host the “Doggone 5K Run/Walk” (and one–mile fun walk) on May 18 at the Curwensville Lake.
The run/walk will begin at 8:30 a.m.; packet pick-up will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the dam’s pavilion.
There is a $15 entry fee for the 5K and a $10 entry fee for the one-mile fun walk. Same-day registration is $20 for the 5K and $15 for the one-mile fun walk.
Registration forms can be obtained at the Allegheny Spay & Neuter Clinic, located at 1380 Shawville Hwy., Woodland (next to the post office); by e-mailing info@animal411.net; or online at CentralPATickets.com (fees may apply).
Participants should pre-register for the 5K by April 22 to guarantee a T-shirt.
Leashed-pets are welcome and encouraged to accompany participants. All dogs must have proof of a current rabies vaccine and be on a leash.
Certificates will be awarded to the top male and female finishers in all age groups.
The event will take place rain or shine, and the course will encompass some wooded trails.
There will be water stations at every mile marker and water and fruit at the conclusion. There will also be homemade baked goods and door prizes.
Anyone who brings and donates an item from the clinic’s wish list will get an extra door prize ticket. The wish list can be found on the AWC Web site: www.animal411.net.
Sponsorship opportunities are available for businesses or individuals for the event, and will help raise much-needed funds to help animals.
