PENFIELD – Community vitality will be the focus of an upcoming free seminar.
The Clearfield County Planning & Community Development Office and the Elk County Planning Department will host representatives from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development who will address methods and means of reducing blight to re-energize neighborhoods.
The seminar will be held from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. April 11 at the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Bureau of Forestry, Moshannon District Office, located at 3372 State Park Rd., Penfield.
This seminar is being held for municipal leaders, and will help answer those questions you have by providing an overview of tools – old and new – for addressing blight proactively and sharing successful funding stories and options.
It will provide:
- an overview of tools to prevent, remediate and redevelop blighted properties.
- information on available funding sources to help local governments address blighted properties.
- a session for questions and comments.
Speakers include Andrew Sheaf, a local government policy manager, and Jessica Trimble, a local government policy specialist, in DCED’s Center for Local Government Services.
In his role, he oversees the Act 47 program for distressed municipalities and the Early Intervention Program.
Sheaf also helps to provide municipalities and local government officials with access technical assistance, funding support and related resources.
In her capacity, Trimble participates in statewide Planning and GIS initiatives and provides technical assistance to local governments on the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code (MPC).
Her professional background also includes experience in Community Development Block Grants, federal affordable housing programs and various state programs.
