Gregory J. Neugebauer Esq. has formally announced his candidacy as the Republican candidate for Cambria County District Attorney.
Neugebauer was born and raised in Cambria County to hardworking parents. His family values and love for the people in the region made his decision to run for District Attorney an easy one.
He says: “There have been too many families who have suffered terrible crimes and haven’t had their day in court. Victims deserve better.
“Their lives will never be the same and having an advocate in their corner will help the healing begin and provide closure.”
Neugebauer sees the damage that drugs and violence have done to this community, and knows that a different attitude is needed to combat the most serious problems.
The youngest of four siblings, he is a 2001 graduate of Bishop Carroll High School. He went on to graduate Manga Cum Laude from Dickinson College in 2005 with a double major in international business and management and spanish, with a minor in economics.
Recognized for his academic achievement, he was accepted into the Phi Beta Kappa Society, the nation’s most prestigious honor society.
After working in the financial industry, Neugebauer enrolled in the University of Pittsburgh School of Law where he obtained his Juris Doctor in 2010.
After graduation, Neugebauer joined the law firm of Neugebauer, Swope & Swope, P.C. as an associate where he began a general practice of law with a focus on criminal, family and elder law.
Quickly known for his work ethic and dedication, he became a partner in the firm, which reorganized as Neugebauer & Swope, P.C. in 2013.
A fierce advocate for justice, he became an assistant district attorney in May of 2016, where he spent years seeking compassionate justice for victims and their families.
A devoted husband and father of two young children, Neugebauer lives in Ebensburg and enjoys spending time with his family and their Labrador mix, Ref.
Used to making the tough calls, he has been an avid sports official for almost a decade. Neugebauer believes that effective justice is transparent, relentless and swift, and he looks forward to working tirelessly to make Cambria County a safer community in which to live and work.
