WINGATE — The Clearfield Area High School boys basketball team charged from behind in the fourth quarter to slip past Bald Eagle Area 57-55 in Mountain League action Friday night.
Karson Rumsky fueled the Bison’s 23-point rally from a 41-34 deficit with 10 points, while Cade Walker and Andrew Lopez contributed six and five, respectively.
The win halted a three-game slide by the Bison, who got off to a slow start and trailed 13-5 after one quarter as Jaden Jones paced the Eagles with nine points.
A quartet of three-pointers by Rumsky and five points by Walker helped Clearfield get back in the game in the second period.
BEA (5-9, 1-7 ML) was clinging to a 27-24 lead at halftime and extended that to the seven-point spread in the third period.
But the Eagles couldn’t hold off the Bison, who balanced their record at 7-7 while handing the hosts their fifth loss in a row.
Rumsky wound up with 24 points and Walker added 19.
Both posted double-doubles, Rumsky grabbing 12 rebounds and Walker pulling down 10.
Lopez topped Clearfield’s 56-35 advantage with 14 boards to go with five assists.
Keagan Hess registered four assists and Matt Pallo added three.
Jones, a 5-8 junior guard, poured in a game-high 27 points for BEA, and backcourt mate Nate Hoover chipped in with 12.
The Bison draw another tough assignment Monday when they venture to DuBois (9-4) for a non-league game.
