NEW BETHLEHEM – The Curwensville Area High School Wrestling team traveled to New Bethlehem on Saturday to participate in the annual Redbank Valley Dual tournament. Curwensville went 1-4 on the day.
Curwensville’s sole victory came over Youngsville, 48-12. Curwensville also wrestled matches against Mercer, Slippery Rock, Jamestown, and Punxsutawney.
Senior Blake Passarelli (10-1) and freshman Jacob Carfley (9-2) were both undefeated on the day with five wins a piece. Passarelli, wrestling between 126 and 132, had two pins, a major decision and two forfeits, while Carfley pinned his sole opponent of the day and received four forfeits at 106 pounds.
Senior Cole Bressler (7-4) and sophomore Jake McCracken (8-3) each went 4-1 on the day, combining for four pins and four forfeits.
Overall, Curwensville’s record has dropped to 3-8, but individually they are 51-37 with 20 pins.
Curwensville will wrestle in their first individual tournament of the season this coming weekend on January 5th at the Bo Wood Individual tournament.
