CLEARFIELD – First responders and other local professionals recently completed child abuse training, announced Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. on Monday.
The training was offered by the Northeast Regional Children’s Advocacy Center (NRCAC) in collaboration with the Child Advocacy Center of Clearfield County (CAC-CC).
According to Shaw, this training was facilitated by the NRCAC to help states, located throughout the northeastern region, to better understand impacts of vicarious trauma that’s associated with casework involving child abuse.
“This training helps first responders become aware of signs and symptoms of vicarious trauma within their co-workers and themselves,” Shaw explained.
The CAC-CC is striving toward a National Children’s Alliance Accreditation. Through this training, he indicated that the CAC-CC helps to meet the standard of “organizational capacity.”
Shaw thanked Sue Ascione for offering and providing this training opportunity to Clearfield County. He thanked the CAC-CC for coordinating and hosting the event, and he also commended all the participants.
