The Clearfield Center for Active Living hosted the Sandy Lick Mountain Dulcimer Players on Wednesday, Oct. 24.
The group, led by Virginia Schott, played several songs for the local seniors using the mountain dulcimer, auto harp and the tin whistle.
Each song was given a brief explanation of how the song was created and the meaning of it.
Guests were encouraged to sing along to favorite familiars such as “She’ll Be Comin’ Round the Mountain” and “Amazing Grace.”
Sandy Lick Mountain Dulcimer Players have been playing together for over eight years and offer dulcimer classes for newbies and beginners.
On Dec. 7, former DuBois Area High School graduate, Butch Ross, will travel from Chattanooga, Tenn., to provide a workshop to the group and will offer a free concert in the evening at the Christ Lutheran Church in DuBois. Donations will be accepted for the concert.
