CLEARFIELD – A short agenda was presented to council at the Clearfield Borough committee meeting Thursday evening.
Police Chief Vincent McGinnis reported that the borough and township are seeing a rise of thefts from vehicles. He said the cause is due to people not locking their vehicles, creating easy access for thieves.
Residents are reminded to lock vehicles, remove valuable and to not leave guns in their cars. McGinnis said that there is a rise in guns being stolen from vehicles that are usually left unlocked.
Next week council will open street material bids and award the lowest bidder, and also open snow removal bids and award that bid.
Manager Leslie Stott said one bid for sub-contracting snow removal was received though more can be submitted. She added that the borough hasn’t had to use a sub-contractor for the past two years, but it’s important to have someone in line just in case.
Residents are reminded that trick-or-treat will be held Oct. 31 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Those homes wishing to give out candy should leave their porch lights on.
The annual Halloween parade will be held Oct. 30 with line-up at 6:30 p.m. and step off at 7 p.m. This year’s theme is “Nightmare with Nickelodeon.”
Stott also announced that a Hollywood film crew, Hard Faith Films, will be in the area in upcoming weeks working on a film entitled “Shooting Heroin,” from the creators of the film “Generational Sins.”
On Oct 24 the crew will be at the borough offices filming and the offices will be closed beginning at 3 p.m.
Code Enforcement Officer Larry Mack noted the planning commission started the review process on regulating methadone/suboxone clinics.
