COOPER TOWNSHIP – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is alerting motorists it will install temporary signals Monday, Oct. 1, on Route 53 in Cooper Township, Clearfield County.
The signals will allow PennDOT to reopen a section of roadway from Kylertown at Interstate 80 to the Clearfield/Centre County line that has been closed since Sept. 11 due to a slide issue.
The signals will be set to “flash” mode for approximately 48 hours before becoming fully operational. During that period, the detour using I-80, Route 144 and Route 53 will remain in effect.
Once the signals are fully operational, the detour will be lifted and the signals will enforce a lane restriction/alternating traffic pattern condition until PennDOT can make permanent repairs to the roadway.
RoadSafe Traffic Systems Inc. of Gibsonia is the vendor for the signal.
