State police at Punxsutawney
- State police received a report about suspected child abuse Aug. 15 at a Patchin Highway residence in Burnside Township. However, it was determined that no actual crime was committed; no charges will be filed as a result of the investigation.
- State police received a report about a theft that occurred Aug. 18 on Route 119 in Young Township. During the incident, $60 in cash, which was left unattended, was allegedly stolen from a self-check-out. State police say the suspect then entered a white GM pick-up truck with black stripes.
State police at Ridgway
- State police reported on a fatal crash that occurred Tuesday on state Route 219, just north of Toby Road, in Horton Township. Scott N. Covert, 57, of Ridgway was traveling on his Harley Davidson when he was unable to avoid a deer in the roadway. He was thrown from his motorcycle and had to be flown to UPMC Altoona, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Lawrence Township
- Police received a report about an incident of disorderly conduct that occurred Tuesday at a Mount Zion Road residence. During the incident, a female showed up unannounced and allegedly yelled obscenities while outside. Contact was made with the female and police told her she would be arrested if she didn’t change her behavior and came back to the residence.
DuBois City
- Police received a report from a West Scribner Avenue resident who stated his roommate had punched him in the back of the head. He was transported to the Penn Highlands Hospital, but there weren’t any injuries observed by officers. Police didn’t file charges as a result of the incident.
- Police received a report about suspicious activity at Penn Highlands. When police arrived on scene, the vehicles left.
- Police received a complaint about loud music in the 100 block of East DuBois Avenue. Police contacted those involved and advised them to turn their music down.
