CLEARFIELD – A Mineral Springs man has been accused of pushing a child in a stroller on U.S. Route 322.
Mark David Peters, 38, has been charged by Trooper Zachary O. Moran of the Clearfield-based state police with felony endangering the welfare of children and recklessly endangering another person. His bail has been set at $10,000.
Peters waived his right to a preliminary hearing during centralized court Wednesday at the Clearfield County Jail.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred at approximately 6:11 p.m. Aug. 15 in Bradford Township, according to the affidavit of probable cause filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Jerome Nevling.
A witness called state police to report a bald male with a muscular build was pushing a small child in a stroller westbound on the double yellow lines along Route 322.
The male’s actions were impeding traffic and causing vehicles to swerve to miss the child, the witness said. They further related the male had left Route 322 and was traveling eastbound on Burkett Road.
Upon arrival on Burkett Road, state police observed a stroller matching the description outside Peters’ residence. Peters was found inside and allegedly admitted to walking with his girlfriend’s child along Route 322 earlier in the day.
